What is the Tensor Fasciae Latae?

The tensor fasciae latae is a small but important muscle on the outer front side of your hip, near where your front pocket would be. It starts on the front of the pelvis and connects into a thick band of connective tissue on the outside of your thigh called the iliotibial band, which then continues down toward the knee. Even though it is not a “six pack” muscle, it plays a big role in how your hips and pelvis behave during walking, running, squatting, and any single leg work.
